Jazz Audition Information
- All jazz materials can be obtained here. In addition to the provided etude, all students (minus drummers) must play a chromatic scale covering the range of their instrument.
- Drummers must be able to play 4 bars of swing feel and 4 bars of soloing, 32 bars total. Repeat doing the same thing with a samba groove.
- Improvisation is optional for all players, but solo spots will not be given to anyone who does not do an improv audition. Improv will be "My Romance", and mp3s can be obtained here.
- Lead Trumpet and Trombone etudes are optional, but are required for anyone seeking a lead chair.
- Bass Trombones need ONLY play the scale and bass bone etude
- Bari Sax players need ONLY play the swing etude below, and bari etude, available here
